Rutgers police are investigating an aggravated assault that occurred last weekend during a dispute involving a group of people on campus.

The victim, who is affiliated with the university, was attacked about 1:30 a.m. Saturday at the intersection of Seminary Place and College Avenue, university police said in a statement.

Multiple people were involved in a verbal dispute when one member of the group emerged and assaulted the victim, according to police.

The victim sustained a non-life threatening injury and sought treatment at a nearby hospital. The attacker fled in an unknown direction, police said.

Seminary Place runs between College Avenue and George Street, directly adjacent to several Rutgers academic buildings such as Murray Hall, Van Dyck Hall, and Scott Hall.
