Methacton’s excellent 19-win field hockey season came to its most crushing conclusion in the Lehigh Valley on Tuesday night.

Parkland’s Leah Frew scored on a time-expired penalty corner on the last play of regulation, giving the Trojans a thrilling 2-1 victory in the first round of the PIAA-3A Tournament while simultaneously breaking every heart on the Methacton sideline.

Parkland, the number two seed from District 11, and Methacton’s third-seeded Warriors out of District 1 played a highly-competitive match. The Warriors (19-4-2 overall) had 11 penalty corners to Parkland’s seven and out-shot the Trojans 11-5 for the game.

Ceci Rehak gave Methacton a 1-0 lead in the first quarter when she scored on an assist from Olivia Feliciani.
