CLEVELAND — Health experts are offering guidance on several timely health topics as the season changes, from respiratory illness prevention to safe yard work practices.
Akron Children's Hospital is already seeing an uptick in RSV cases as respiratory illness season begins. Respiratory syncytial virus is a common respiratory virus that infects the nose, throat, and lungs. While symptoms often resemble those of a cold, flu, or COVID-19, RSV can pose serious risks to infants and older adults.
"There's also a new preventative therapy for RSV that pregnant patients and infants born during RSV season can be eligible for, so important to ask your doctor about that," said Dr. Patricia Raimer, a pediatric intensivist at Akron Children's Hospital.
