STRONGSVILLE, Ohio — The suspect in a family-related shooting last Friday, 74-year-old Gene Tomcho of North Ridgeville , has died, Strongsville Police confirmed Wednesday.
Police say officers responded to a home on Rock Creek Circle at 8:06 p.m. on Oct. 31 after receiving a report of a shooting. When officers arrived, they found a 49-year-old woman suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and Tomcho holding a handgun.
According to police, Tomcho fired the weapon at himself after officers ordered him to drop it. Both victims were treated by medics and transported to hospitals.
The woman, identified by the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's Office as Gina Guyer, later died from her injuries. Police confirmed Tomcho was Guyer's father.
