Oakland County’s voter turnout Tuesday may seem low, compared to the last few years, but it’s higher than most off-year elections.

“We attribute the higher turnout to voter enthusiasm, permanent mail ballot list, and early voting,” said Oakland County Clerk Lisa Brown.

More than 50 of the county’s 62 municipalities held elections, with ballots in 284 precincts.

County wide, 771, 998 registered voters could have cast ballots but only 200,230 did. That’s a 25.94% turnout – far below 2024’s 72.98% showing, when more than 1 million county residents were eligible to vote for presidential and Congressional candidates, among others.

In 2022, nearly 61% of all the counties registered voters cast ballots.
