HENRY CO., Ill. (KWQC) - A Henry County Court postponed a motion to reconsider the life sentence of the man convicted of killing a Knox County deputy on Wednesday.

The motion for Daylon Richardson was postponed until Dec. 19.

The Illinois Department of Corrections did not get the writ to bring him to court, according to online court records.

Illinois State’s Attorney Cathy Runty also filed a motion Wednesday to dispose of some evidence in the case.

Richardson was sentenced to life in prison for the 2022 death of Knox County Sheriff’s Deputy Nicholas Weist during a two-county chase in August.

A jury convicted him of two counts of first-degree murder in February of 2024.
