Sydney Sweeney is finally breaking her silence on the backlash over her controversial American Eagle Outfitters ad campaign earlier this year.

The “Euphoria” star, 28, was the target of online criticism after appearing in commercials for the brand that featured the tagline “Sydney Sweeney has great jeans.” The slogan — a play on the phrase “great genes” — caused many to accuse Sweeney and American Eagle of pushing harmful beauty standards that glorify white women.

Speaking to GQ magazine , Sweeney said the uproar over the ads — which grew so intense that President Donald Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance came to her defense — ultimately “didn’t affect” her.
