CLAIBORNE PARISH, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – The fire that killed an elderly woman in Homer, La., late Tuesday night is under investigation by the Louisiana State Fire Marshal.

According to the State Fire Marshal, the fire started around 10:22 pm on November 4. Claiborne Fire District 6 responded to a reported residential fire in the 500 block of Liberty Hill Road. When they arrived, they found the house fully engulfed, and the homeowner was deceased inside.

The cause and origin of the fire is still being investigated, and it has not been determined if there were working smoke alarms inside the home of the 88-year-old female victim.
