MONTROSE COUNTY, Colo. (KREX) - The recall of a Montrose County commissioner narrowly passed on Election Night.
Unofficial results show 8,439 voters (52.05%) voted to recall Scott Mijares, while 7,773 (47.95%) were against it. That was a difference of 666 votes.
That means Kristin Copeland will take Mijares's seat.
Recall committee members Linda Gann and Phoebe Benzinger said in a statement that they were "filled with gratitude and pride for this incredible community," adding that this effort was bigger than politics or political affiliations.
