LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - One person is dead and two others are injured after a two-vehicle crash in east Lincoln Wednesday afternoon.

Lincoln Fire and Rescue were called to 70th and L streets at 12:37 p.m.

LPD Lt. Dustin Romshek said a preliminary investigation determined a southbound Ford Explorer collided with a northbound Nissan Kicks turning west on L Street in the intersection.

One driver was taken to the hospital, where they later died. A passenger in the same SUV is being treated for serious injuries.

Romshek said the driver in the other SUV had minor injuries. LPD will not be releasing names pending next of kin notification. They also did not specify which vehicle the driver who was killed was in.

Police are in the process of investigating and interviewing witnesses.
