(WPTA) - The Indiana Family and Social Services Administration (FSSA) sent an update on Wednesday, saying Hoosiers will get partial, delayed SNAP benefits for November.
The organization says November SNAP benefits will be delayed by at least one week as benefits for all 274,000 SNAP households in Indiana must be recalculated using a new formula.
They say the USDA’s Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) has reduced the federally determined maximum allotment for each household by 50%. According to Indiana FSSA, SNAP assumes households spend 30% of their net income on food, so SNAP benefits are calculated by subtracting 30% of a household’s net income from that maximum allotment.
