LEDYARD, Conn. (WFSB) - Students were dismissed early from school after a fire broke out in an elementary school in Ledyard.
The fire broke out this morning in a second-floor bathroom at Gallup Hill School.
According to Superintendent Jay Hartling, all students and staff are safe and there were no injuries.
The fire was contained to the one bathroom, although smoke impacted parts of the second floor.
Hartling says students were dismissed early for safety reasons, and to allow for a thorough cleaning and air-quality assessment.
