HARTFORD, Conn. (WFSB) - Tenants at a Hartford apartment building say their electronics, family photos and personal belongings were stolen after a fire damaged the building last week and it was left boarded up and unguarded for days.
The fire broke out last Thursday at the apartment building on Wethersfield Avenue. Tenants say they were not allowed back inside to retrieve their belongings until Wednesday morning, nearly a week later.
When they finally gained access, many reported items missing from their apartments.
“The apartment looked like people went shopping in there. It looks like it was a giveaway,” said tenant Taylor McIntyre.
