An 18-year-old Rutgers University freshman died in a fiery crash late Thursday night on Route 18 in New Brunswick, officials said.
Anthony D. Hanna was driving south shortly before midnight when he lost control of his vehicle and struck a utility pole just before the ramp to Route 1 south, New Brunswick police said.
Hanna’s vehicle then caught fire, Capt. Amish Shah said. Hanna was pronounced dead at the scene early Friday.
There were no passengers in the vehicle, according to Shah.
Hanna, of the Morganville section of Marlboro, graduated from Marlboro High School in June, according to an online obituary .
He is survived by his parents, a brother, a sister, grandparents and many other relatives and friends.
Hanna was a mechanical engineering major, according to his LinkedIn page.
