More than a year after a contentious start to her tenure, Charleston County School Superintendent Anita Huggins earned strong marks from board members in her annual evaluation, citing outstanding performance in areas like fiscal management, graduation rate and progress on student achievement.

Huggins received an exemplary rating of 30.89 out of 33 possible points, board members announced at a press conference Nov. 5.
