The Douglas County Election Commissioner is stepping down.

Brian Kruse announced he will be stepping down effective Jan. 9, 2026.

He has served as election commissioner since 2016.

“I appreciate the trust that Governors Ricketts and Pillen have placed in me leading the Douglas County Election Commission,” Kruse said. “It has been an honor and privilege for the last decade to serve the voters of Douglas County in administering fair, accurate, secure, and impartial elections.”

Kruse will return to the funeral industry, which was where he was working prior to becoming the election commissioner.
