LANSING, Mich. — The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) said partial November benefits for SNAP recipients will be distributed starting Saturday, Nov. 8.
Recipients will receive approximately 50% of their usual benefit payments, MDHHS said. Recipients who normally receive their benefits on the third, fifth or seventh of the month will receive the partial allotment on Saturday. All other recipients will receive the partial allotment on their normally scheduled date.
The reason benefits are only being issued in part is because of the federal government shutdown, according to MDHHS. The current federal government shutdown is the longest in U.S. history.
