ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Malik Evans won the race for Rochester mayor in 2021 under messy circumstances.

Lovely Warren, the incumbent at the time, was seeking reelection while fighting off criminal charges and criticism of her handling of Daniel Prude’s death.

Fast forward to 2025, Tuesday night’s win presented an unambiguous vote of confidence that Evans says he doesn’t take lightly.
