People are being warned not to attend a popular Bonfire Night event in Merseyside after the bonfire was deemed too big.
Wirral Council called the bonfire at Ilchester Park "unauthorised" because it exceeded the size limit set by Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service (MFRS). Stricter regulations were introduced earlier this year following recommendations from MFRS and a new council policy. After some bonfires last year were deemed unsafe, all events must now be approved by Wirral Council before taking place.
Four Bonfire Night events have been approved by the local authority at Leasowe, Beechwood, Noctorum and Seacombe, Liverpool Echo reports. In addition to the event at Ilchester Park, another "unauthorised event" is reportedly taking place on the Woodchurch Estate, organised by the commu
