GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - A 33-year-old Grand Island man is in custody after he was accused of seriously injuring a woman in a domestic assault.

Awadella Adam was charged with first-degree domestic assault causing serious bodily injury and misdemeanor child abuse charges in Hall County Court.

According to the arrest affidavit, a woman reported to Grand Island Police that Adam hit her in the face and head multiple times while she was carrying a child. The woman also told police that he pushed her down stairs.

The affidavit says doctors reported the victim sustained an internal brain bleed as a result of the assault.

Adam is due in Hall County Court for his arraignment Thursday with his bond set at 10% of $250,000.
