CORNVILLE, Maine (WABI) - Christmas tree farmers across Maine are facing adversity after being affected by summer drought conditions.

“In 2020 we had a dry season, not as bad as this year. This is the worst I’ve seen in my 46 years,” says Matthew Quinn, president of the Maine Christmas Tree Association.

Quinn is the proprietor of Quinn’s Tree Farm in Cornville, and while the yield in his farm remains roughly the same from last year, he says Christmas Tree farms across Southern Maine fared much worse.

“This year was really unique because it was very wet during our planting season, which is during April, May and June and then the faucet turned off, and it just dried out,” says Quinn. “So, we had some adversity there, some farms I talked to, their mortality increased from what is typically
