LINN COUNTY, Iowa — The trial of Luke Truesdell, a Marion man accused of murdering four people with a metal pipe in rural Linn County, began on November 5.

Truesdell faces four counts of first-degree murder for the June 2024 incident. During opening statements, the prosecution alleged that Truesdell ambushed the victims. The defense countered, claiming surveillance footage from the property does not support this assertion.

The trial adjourned for the day and will continue with evidence presentation on Thursday at 9 a.m.

If convicted, Truesdell faces life in prison without parole.
