CROCKER, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - When the crops were ready but the odds were stacked against him, one South Dakota farmer learned that sometimes help comes from the people who have already had your back, long before harvest season.
Farming can be difficult, but for Dwight Wookey, health challenges made it nearly impossible. His nephew, John Wookey, stepped in to take over the harvest when Dwight’s health issues kept him from getting into the tractor or combine.
“You know, what was he going to do? He couldn’t get in and out of tractors, he couldn’t get in and out of the sprayer and the combine at the time because he was going through all these health issues,” John said.
John realized immediately that the work was too much for one person. He needed to act fast and reach out for more help
