SPOKANE, Wash. — The host of the Spokane-based exercise show Sit and Be Fit, Mary Ann Wilson, has passed away. She was 87 years old.
Mary Ann Wilson founded the show that aired on Spokane's PBS station starting back in the 80s. The show aired across the U.S. and reached an estimated 83 million households.
Wilson began her career in health as a registered nurse. Her specialty was geriatrics and post-polio rehabilitation. Starting in the 80s, she was an aerobics instructor doing high and low impact workouts.
In 1985, she was asked by the Community Colleges of Spokane's Institute for Extended Learning (IEL) to develop a stretch-and-tone exercise program for the South Hill Senior Center.
