APPLETON, Wis. (WBAY) - An Appleton business owner traveled to Washington, D.C. ahead of a Supreme Court hearing on President Trump’s emergency tariffs.

The court is reviewing whether the president acted within his authority, a decision that could affect businesses across the country, including here in Wisconsin.

Members of the Small Business for America’s Future council gathered near Capitol Hill to share their concerns about the sweeping tariffs announced in April.

Some business owners say unpredictable trade policy has forced them to make difficult choices just to keep their doors open.

That includes Hugo Ramirez Rivas, owner of ice cream shop Frio Mexican Treats in Appleton.

Rivas imports his cups from China.

Now, because of the tariffs, he says delivery expenses are up $200 each
