Brentwood police released a statement Wednesday explaining what happened during the incident that ended with the death of a 72-year-old grandmother.
According to the statement published on Facebook, officers responded to a call involving a family dispute at around 11 a.m. on Friday. Yolanda Ramirez, 72, was placed under a citizen’s arrest at the request of a family member, according to authorities.
Her family told NBC Bay Area Tuesday Ramirez had no history of trouble and added they couldn’t imagine she would ever pose a threat.
Officials report Ramirez attempted to run away when officers arrived. Responding officers detained Ramirez, and after placing her in a patrol vehicle they noticed she appeared to be having a medical issue.
