CHEYENNE — High schoolers took over public comment during the Laramie County School District 1 Board of Trustees meeting Monday to discuss mental health, suicide awareness and boots.
Specifically, Jae Boots.
This semester, high schoolers in LCSD1 have had the opportunity to work with the Jae Foundation, which works to remove the stigma around suicide and mental health through real, open conversation and the power of the cowboy boot.
Monday night, six high school seniors utilized the public comment portion of the meeting to tell board members just how meaningful their time with the foundation was.
“I feel like it’s something that’s not talked about,” said one student, referred to by the initials S.P. “I feel like a lot of people go unnoticed about it until it’s too late.”
