SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) — The Salvation Army is officially kicking off its annual Christmas campaign, reminding the community that help is needed.

Julie Allen, Salvation Army Spokesperson, said, "It is massively important for us to have a community partnership. It is massively important that our city officials all across northwest Louisiana, specifically Caddo Bossier, come together and bring love to our neighbors in need."

The nonprofit has registered more than 1,600 angels thus far, and is now preparing nearly 1,000 Thanksgiving meals.

"All of those are impacted if we do not meet our kettle goal. And that's why it is absolutely vital for our community members to join us in these efforts," said Allen.
