Families relying on Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits in Connecticut could see funds on their EBT cards within the next week, Gov. Ned Lamont said Wednesday.

“The good news is we’re going to get $25 to 30 million added to the SNAP cards within four to five days,” Lamont said. “We’ve got our continuing food share going and we can double down on that as necessary.”

The announcement comes as the Trump administration continues to fund SNAP only partially amid the ongoing federal shutdown.

Lamont said state officials are monitoring the situation closely, but have not yet committed to using state funds to fill the gap.
