A man is fighting for life after being mauled by several dogs at a home in Western Sydney.

The 54-year-old was attacked in the head, chest, and arm at a property on Kildare Rd, Doonside, about 11am on Thursday.

Paramedics treated him at the scene before rushing him to Westmead Hospital in a critical condition.

A CareFlight helicopter was initially dispatched, but he was later transported by road.

Police said six dogs were seized from the property by Blacktown City Council, and investigations are ongoing.

The incident comes less than a week after another dog attack in Sydney, in which a 55-year-old man was left fighting for life after being mauled by his own dog.
