Bhubaneswar: The Special Judge, Vigilance, Baripada on Thursday convicted Bhimsen Mangaraj, former Tahasildar of Bahalda in Mayurbhanj district, in a disproportionate assets (DA) case filed by the Odisha Vigilance.
The court sentenced Mangaraj to two years of rigorous imprisonment (RI) and imposed a fine of ₹1 lakh.
Mangaraj, who has since retired from service, was charge-sheeted under Section 13(2) read with Section 13(1)(e) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, for possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
Following the conviction, the Odisha Vigilance has stated that it will move the competent authority to stop the pension benefits of the convicted officer, in accordance with existing government rules. Tags: disproportionate assets (DA) case Odisha
