The Special Judge, Vigilance, Baripada convicted Bhimsen Mangaraj, the retired Tahasildar of Bahalda in Mayurbhanj district, for possessing disproportionate assets.
Odisha Vigilance had filed the case under Section 13(2) read with Section 13(1)(e) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.
The court sentenced Mangaraj to two years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of ₹1,00,000. Investigators had earlier uncovered assets that far exceeded his known sources of income during his tenure as Tahasildar.
