CLEVELAND, Ohio – When Packy Malley heard a Bob Marley record for the first time he fell in love with Jamaica – the country, the music, the people.
More than 40 years later he wound up there serving in the Peace Corps. And next month, he is staging a fundraiser to help the people in the nation that was hit by last week’s savage hurricane.
Malley, of the Cleveland-based Malley’s Chocolates company, joined up in March 2023. He was recently serving in Coleyville in a central mountainous part of the country.
This past June 10 he returned home for a vacation and learned he needed a pacemaker. So he was temporarily “medically separated” from the Peace Corps. Two weeks after the procedure he was cleared to rejoin but already had signed up for an emergency medical technician class at Cuyahoga
