Rutgers opened its new era — one without the hype that Dylan Harper and Ace Bailey brought a year ago — with a resounding win.

After a sloppy first half, Rutgers dominated in-state opponent Rider in the second half to cruise to its season-opening 81-53 victory at Jersey Mikes Arena in Piscataway.

Tariq Francis led Rutgers with 20 points, Dylan Grant added in 17 and Jamichael Davis tallied 15, but there were pnelty of other performances to discuss as the Scarlet Knights opened their season in a win they needed to have.
