BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ( WBRC ) - Two Outback Steakhouse locations in the Birmingham area are no more.
WBRC confirmed Thursday morning that the restaurant on 20th Street North and the Inverness location on Highway 280 are both permanently closed.
The closures comes as Bloomin’ Brands, the parent company of Outback, outlined its turnaround strategy in a fiscal earnings report Thursday, which included closing 21 locations across the country.
CEO Mike Spanos said they believe the plan will drive “long-term sustainable and profitable growth.”
“I am excited to announce our turnaround strategy, with a focus on the Outback Steakhouse brand,” he said. “In support of our strategy, we will reallocate available free cash flow into strategic investments in our base business and pay down debt.”
