HERMITAGE, Tenn. (WKRN) — As Veterans Day approaches, neighborhoods across the mid-state are preparing to honor those who served, and the Hermitage Field of Honor is already on full display.
A tradition started by the Donelson-Hermitage Exchange Club a decade ago, 1,000 flags are now placed in the ground. They say it exudes the spirit of America and the meaning of Veterans Day.
The field is located by the Hermitage Presbyterian Church and open to the public. It's a symbol of unity, as each flag represents a person who has served or is currently serving in the U.S. Armed Forces.
Under each flag you can see a yellow ribbon with a military member's name attached, as well as the branch they serve. Organizers told News 2 the Field of Honor creates a lot of special moments for people while it
