NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Midtown in Nashville has changed a lot over the years. Now, the neighborhood is a hot spot for tourists and locals alike.

But some councilmembers see its potential going even further.

Metro Councilmember Jacob Kupin (District 19) has introduced a bill that would create the Midtown Central Business Improvement District, which he said would help the midtown area continue to grow and thrive.

A similar district already exists for downtown Nashville and the Gulch. The way they work is they create a board to make decisions on what the midtown area needs—things like trash pickup, street cleaning, flower planting, or safety improvements.

The group would be funded by fees on midtown property owners: 15 cents per $100 of assessed value.
