ATLANTA, Georgia — Jack’s Donuts, the Southern bakery chain known for its classic pastries and decades-long presence, has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, the company confirmed on social media .

The company said the filing affects the franchisor and related corporate entities, but independently owned franchise locations are not part of the proceedings.

“This is a court-supervised process,” Jack’s Donuts said, noting that it has “plans for continued and uninterrupted future operations” that will be submitted as part of the bankruptcy case.

Despite the filing, Jack’s Donuts emphasized that its stores remain open and employees are continuing their work.
