COCKE COUNTY, Tenn. (WATE) — A federal judge on Thursday ordered the Trump administration to make full Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) payments for November despite the government shutdown. However, there is still some uncertainty surrounding the future of WIC benefits and how quickly SNAP benefits will be paid.

In East Tennessee, community members in Cocke County are still feeling the impact. 6 News spoke with a meal center in Newport that's working hard to meet the community's needs during this difficult time.

Feed My Sheep Ministries is a donation-run meal center known for serving the homeless, but they welcome anyone who comes through the doors with a hot meal every day during lunchtime. Leaders told 6 News recently they're seeing more people than usual filling seats
