LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY)-- KLFY News 10 is catching up with former Remarkable Woman of the Year winners now that nominations are open.

Carol Trosclair was named Acadiana's Remarkable Woman in 2021.

“I've turned tragedy into triumph," Trosclair said.

Trosclair's personal tragedy happened when her son David unexpectedly passed away in 2010.

Trosclair said her son was sick, trying to feel better to make it to his classes.

"So, what he did was he took a combination of his allergy prescription medicine with over-the-counter medicine," Trosclair said. "It stopped his heart toxicology reports said."
