The University of Pittsburgh plans to build a fourth Litchfield Tower, repurpose the historic Pittsburgh Athletic Association into a student center, and reimagine the upper floors of the William Pitt Union as student housing.

School officials shared those plans and others during a final draft preview for Pitt’s updated campus master plan on Thursday.

The proposed projects will need approval from school trustees — and funding — before Pitt can break ground on a number of plans that aim to add more housing, accessibility and green spaces to campus.

At the center of many of these plans is stewardship of Pitt’s current portfolio, said Gina Bleck, Pitt’s vice chancellor for planning, design and construction.
