LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Former Atlanta Falcons running back Jamal Anderson was arrested in Los Angeles on Tuesday for domestic violence, the LAPD told ABC News.

Police responded to a home in the San Fernando Valley at about 11 a.m. for a dispute call, according to LAPD.

Police say the argument turned physical and Anderson allegedly strangled his victim. An ambulance was requested for the victim.

Officers arrested Anderson for corporal injury on a spouse, but was released Thursday after posting a $50,000 bail.

No further details were immediately known.

Anderson was a popular NFL running back in the 1990s and played with the Atlanta Falcons for his entire football career. He's also known for his end zone dance, known as the "dirty bird."
