LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WKYT) - Teamsters Local 89 hosted a community vigil in memory of UPS Flight 2976.

“48 hours ago, if we were standing right here, we would’ve seen a huge ominous black cloud of smoke over an apocalyptic sky,” U.S. Congressman Morgan McGarvey said.

Congressman McGarvey described UPS employee Sascha King’s reality.

King works for the company at the airport. She says her workday was just starting when she saw a sight she says she’ll never forget.

“I just heard a big explosion and I looked up and I just saw smoke filling the sky, like what happened and I heard one of our planes went down,” King said.

King says she believes emotions were high at the Teamster Local 89 vigil because of Louisville’s strong connection to UPS.
