A machete, drugs and cloned registration plates were found inside a stolen car stopped following a police chase.

Undercover police in Cambuslang spotted the vehicle on Hamilton Road yesterday at around 11am.

Plain clothes officers recognised the occupants as two men wanted for various serious offences and attempted to stop them.

After a short pursuit, the stolen car was brought to a stop and the two men arrested.

Officers then discovered a machete, a concealed knife , a quantity of controlled drugs and cloned vehicle registration plates inside the car.

The officers have been praised for their 'proactive work' and for keeping 'communities safe and violent offenders off the streets'.

The two men are due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court today, Friday, October 7.
