EAST WILLIAMSBURG, Brooklyn (PIX11) -- Police are on the hunt after a 12-year-old girl was sexually assaulted inside a NYCHA building in Brooklyn, according to authorities.

The girl was attacked in the lobby stairwell of the building near Morgan Avenue and Skillman Avenue around 5:45 p.m. on Thursday, officials report.

Police say the suspect is a man in his 20s who ran away in an unknown direction. Meanwhile, the girl was taken to the hospital for evaluation.
