Alabama drivers may know which roads to avoid during rush hour, but a recent study identifies the state's eight most dangerous roads where accidents occur most frequently, requiring extra vigilance.

The state sees thousands of traffic crashes every year. According to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS ), there were 974 motor vehicle deaths in Alabama in 2023. That's 19.1 deaths per 100,000 people, which is a figure higher than the national average of 12.2 per 100,000.
