Turning down campaign donations isn’t something politicians often do, but in Baltimore, a councilmember and congressional candidate is pledging not to take money from a specific organization.
Citing concerns with rising prices and the impact on his constituents, Councilman Mark Conway — who also is running for Congress, challenging fellow Democrat Rep. Kweisi Mfume — said he will no longer accept campaign donations from BGE.
“I honestly don’t think at this point that where we are, Democrats should be accepting money from BGE,” Conway said. “If your bill is paying for my re-election through an energy company, I don’t want it.”
