One person is in the hospital on life support after a tragic accident in Kingston on Thursday afternoon.
The City of Kingston Fire Department was initially dispatched to Third Avenue after receiving a report of a car vs. pedestrian accident. When they arrived, they found a bicyclist with serious injuries and transported them to HealthAlliance Hospital, where they were put on “advanced life support care.”
Kingston had 15 bike crashes with injuries in 2023. In the two years prior, there were four fatal bicycle accidents in the city. Officials responded by enacting a number of safety measures, including spending tens of thousands of dollars on preventative marketing and lowering the city speed limit .
