The City of Columbia has announced that the portion of Assembly Street between Catawba and Whaley Streets will be closed starting Tuesday, Nov. 11, at 2 a.m. so crews from Southern Commercial Development, LLC and Norfolk Southern Rail can conduct railroad track repairs.
This section of the roadway is set to reopen on Wednesday, Nov. 12 at 7 p.m., but all dates are subject to change due to weather and/or other unforeseen conditions.
The South Carolina Department of Transportation plans to re-route traffic during the closure from Blossom Street to Huger Street, but motorists should expect extended travel times or delays and are being asked to avoid the closure area if at all possible.
