ADRIAN, Mich. — Drivers in Adrian should prepare to slow down as the city rolls out a renewed focus on traffic enforcement.

Adrian Police Chief Vincent Emrick announced that the department will soon have an officer devoted entirely to traffic enforcement in a move aimed at improving safety and reducing crashes across the city.

“Their only purpose is to do traffic enforcement,” Emrick said. “So, they’re not subject to the regular radio runs. We have our regular contingent of officers for that, which frees them up to then be proactive as far as traffic enforcement.”

According to the Michigan Office of Highway Safety Planning, there have been 845 total crashes and three fatal crashes in Adrian since January 2024. Two of the city’s top five crash locations are along Main Street — at Beecher
